I didn't think I was going to get emotional... but I did. Cried right there in the Department of Motor Vehicles. Why? Because my daughter passed the eye exam. Oh... and she got her Learner's Permit.
When she was six weeks old the doctor told us that she would never be able to drive a car... and once again, Laura has proved her wrong. I prayed about it all day... asking God for her to pass the eye test... but knowing that I didn't want her to pass if it wouldn't be safe for her... or for others. But she did pass... and I am filled with thanksgiving from my head right down to my toes.
(In case you are new, here are a few other posts about my daughter's striking eyes...She's Growing Up... Angel Eyes )
So... let the driving begin!! And God? Now that You have accomplished greatness with her eye exam... could You possibly direct an extra ounce or two of patience my way? Thank you... I'm going to need it!

Praise God for another milestone in Laura's young life! I went back & read your other eye posts & I rejoice with you for your little girls vision. She is something of a miracle, yes? I can relate to any vision problems...I was legally blind without my eyeglasses ---then when I had cataract surgery 4+ years ago the implanted lenses gave me 20/20 for distance! I have glaucoma too, but it is under control with drops. My right eye has a huge protein blob that keeps blocking vision like a lizards eyeball, but it comes & goes. Yikes. I am SO happy to be able to see. Can't drive at night, but can drive,so I am blessed. Tell Laura congrats!
I am thrilled for her!!!! You will do fine....baby steps....and remember what I do...go to the Church parking lot to practice. God is always there. But call me first, so we won't be there at the same time. Don't want to push our luck. :)
Give her my congrats too!!!!
Congratulations, Laura!!!! You did it!!!
Congratulations to your daughter!!! Tell her to always remember her seatbelt...
That IS big-I am going to read your other post about your daughter's eyes...
congratulations to laura, way to go! that is incredible!
Congrats to Laura! How excited she must be!!! Thank goodness the doctor was wrong-what a thing to go thru.
I have been blind in my right eye since age three from an accident. I was always told I couldn't do things, that I probably wouldn't see well enough. Well....it's not true. The only thing I can't do is watch a 3 D movie, or catch a ball. But I think the latter doesn't have anything to do with my eye sight. ha! :) just uncoordinated and I got hit in the head with a basketball once. :)
WOW! Congratulations to your daughter! This is wonderful! My son has "vision challenges" as well... and I too will be holding my breath when the time comes for the driving test.... still a few years away.... we deal with those mountains one at a time, don't we?
Congrats again to the new driver! SO exciting! SUCH independence! I still remember that heady feeling!
